Supplement Facts
Unlike the dated narrative that all fats are bad, our high-quality beef tallow is essential for optimal health and provides key vitamins A, D & K. Without adequate fat, we don't absorb and assimilate the fat-soluble vitamins, and without those, the body and brain cannot thrive. Based on the native wisdom of our early ancestors, tallow provides the same nourishing fat (kidney fat; suet) that our ancestors selectively hunted and prized for robust strength and health.

Nourish Your Way to Health & Happiness With Grass Fed Beef Tallow

We believe that every man, woman and child has the right to be strong, healthy and happy (autoimmune-free, eczema and allergy-free, cavity-free, fatigue-free and so on)... to live life with robust energy and biological resilience... to go from a mere existence, to discover that which makes life worth living. Our mission is "putting back in, what the modern world has left out (to return people back to strength, health and happiness)." Because fortunately, our potential for strength and health remains encoded in our DNA, and under certain conditions, we can genetically express a far greater version of ourselves; it's called epigenetics. Those "certain conditions" almost always have to do with nutrition.

Most Prized Was the Internal Kidney Fat Of Ruminant Animals — The Tallow

What kind of foods produced such fine physical specimens (well-formed, strong, resistant to degenerative disease and cavity-free) in our early Native American ancestors? It turns out that the diets varied with great diversity but all were based on the like-supports-like nutrition dining of large game animals like bear, buffalo, moose and dear. Like-supports-like nutrition dining means that nothing was left to waste. Our DNA evolved with the nourishment of liver, heart, kidney, pancreas, spleen, tallows, etc... and a whole lot of fat. The fat was always saved, sometimes by rendering, stored in the paunch, bladder or large intestine, and consumed with dried or smoked meat or pemmican. Used in this way, fat contributed almost 80 percent of total calories in the diets of the northern Indians. Most prized was the internal kidney fat of ruminant animals.

NOTE: Tallow is made from rendering suet, which is the hard, white fatty layer that surrounds an animal’s organs, specifically the loins and kidneys.

We Evolved Eating a Diet Rich in Fat... Tallow was Most Prized

Almost every anthropologist knows that animals in the wild instinctively go for the liver and the bone marrow first... these are the fundamental foods that provide the deepest nourishment in nature. It turns out, our early hominid ancestors have always favored the kidney fat. Oftentimes, the Indians selected only the fatty parts of the beast, leaving the rest to rot or waste. Samuel Hearne, a fur-trader and explorer writing in 1768, describes the prejudice for fat: "we met several strangers, whom we joined in the pursuit of the caribou, which were at this time so plentiful that we got every day a sufficient number for our support, and indeed too frequently killed several merely for the tongues, marrow and fat."

Beverly Hungry Wolf details the preparation and devouring of a cow in The Ways of My Grandmothers, noting that her grandmother prepared the brethren animal "as she had learned to prepare buffalo when she was young." The large pieces of fat from the back and cavity were removed and rendered. The lean meat was cut into strips and dried or roasted, pounded up with berries and mixed with fat to make pemmican. Most of the ribs were smoked and stored for later use. All the excess fat inside the body was hung up so the moisture would dry out of it. It was later served with dried meat. Some fats in the animal were rendered into "lard" instead of dried.

Cabeza de Vaca reports that Indian tribes of Texas (such as the Apache, Comanche, Wichita, Tonkawa, and many others) kept the skin of the bear and ate the fat, but threw the rest away. Other groups were reported to eat the entire animal, including the head, but recognized that the fat was the most valuable part. According to colonist William Byrd II, writing in 1728, "The flesh of bear hath a good relish, very savory and inclining nearest to that of Pork. The Fat of this Creature is least apt to rise in the Stomach of any other. The Men for the most part chose it rather than Venison." Bear grease was thought to give them resistance by making them physically strong. "We eat it sometimes now and everybody feels better.

All of the foods considered important for fertility and healthy babies, and all of the foods considered sacred, happened to be animal foods; rich in fat (i.e. liver, bone marrow, suet/tallow, wild fish eggs, etc.) When tribes have access to an abundance of organ meats and fat-soluble vitamins, the offspring will grow up with "nice round heads," broad faces and straight teeth.

Tallow
Animal fats, organ meats and whole fatty fish all supply the nourishing fat and the complete fat-soluble system of vitamins A, D & K (yes, E too) which the great Weston A. Price recognized as the basis of healthy primitive diets. These nutrients are the catalysts, or as Price called "activators," for the assimilation and production of proteins, enzymes, vitamins, minerals and more. Without adequate fat, we don't absorb and assimilate the fat-soluble vitamins, and without those, the body and brain cannot grow up to be tall, strong and robust.

The late, great, lipid scientist, Dr. Mary Enig of the Weston A. Price Foundation (WAPF) cites a 2006 study on fats showing that CLA (conjugated linoleic acid), which is found in high concentrations in tallow, has significant anti-cancer effects, and that supplying tallow increased those effects due its palmitic acid, another fatty acid.

Whole food, nutrient-dense tallow (from suet) can provide great benefit for those seeking targeted support in harmony with nature — the old-fashioned way, the way that our early ancestors did. Grass Fed Beef Tallow is a whole food and dietary supplement that provides pure grass fed and grass-finished tallow that's low-heat rendered only from the prized suet.

  • Based on the native wisdom of our early ancestors, tallow provides the same nourishing fat (kidney fat; suet) that our ancestors selectively hunted and prized for robust strength and health.
  • Based on the ancient ancestral wisdom that "like supports like." Every animal cell (in body and brain) is made of a lipid bilayer that's approximately 50% saturated fat. We need this fatty substrate for healthy cells... we need healthy cells for healthy tissues, organs, glands... we need healthy physiology to heal and be healthy.
  • Tallow not only supplies fatty acids like CLA, oleic acid and palmitic acid but also contains vitamins A, D & K. This combination provides the matrix for absorption and assimilation of the fat-soluble activators which supports and affects virtually every biological system... yes, it's that fundamental! Tallow provides support for fertility and hormone health, regulates the immune system and provides deep nourishment for growth and development (healthy bones, teeth, gums and skin)

Grass Fed Beef Tallow Summary

Our genome has evolved with the nourishment of like-supports-like nutrition dining since the beginning of time. Our genome still expects the same like-supports-like nourishment to heal and be healthy. Grass Fed Beef Tallow is a whole food and dietary supplement that provides 100% pure bovine tallow. The native wisdom of our early ancestors was to selectively hunt for the prized kidney fat... this was fundamental to robust strength and health. Tallow provides the fat matrix for absorption and assimilation of the fat-soluble activators which supports and affects virtually every biological system. Tallow provides deep nourishment for growth and development (healthy bones, teeth, gums and skin).

Not all organs and glands are the same. Look for the highest quality tallow... It should come from pasture-raised, grass fed and grass-finished animals that are hormone, pesticide and GMO-free.

We care deeply about each and every aspect of our "seed to supplement" way of life... great love and gratitude goes out to the souls of our animal brethren, such beautiful creatures that were sacrificed so that we could be nourished.

Benefits of Eating Grass Fed Beef Tallow

Traditional peoples, Native Americans and early ancestral healers believed that fat was fundamental to robust strength and health... and that eating the organs from a healthy animal would strengthen and support the health of the corresponding organ of the individual. For instance, the traditional way of treating a person with a weak heart was to feed the person the heart of a healthy animal. Similarly, eating the kidneys of a healthy animal was believed to support urinary ailments and overall kidney health... pancreas was fed to people with pancreatic and digestive problems... and the prized kidney fat (tallow) provided the deep nourishment to support fertility, hormone health, and growth and development (healthy bones, teeth, gums and skin). 7

Grass Fed Liver & Tallow (Perfect Pemmican) — The Ultimate Superfoods
Whether from Grass Fed beef, bison, or lamb, grass fed liver is one of the most nutrient-dense, health-promoting foods you could possibly eat. Hunters all over the world, for uncounted thousands of years, would eat the raw livers of the animals they killed. Lions and other predatory animals will also eat the liver first. Grass fed liver is particularly rich in vitamin B12, vitamin A, choline, folate and and many other powerful nutrients that most people are deficient in. Grass fed liver also contains compounds that help the human liver function better. Other substances in liver reduce fatigue, improve digestive health and support brain function.7

Many people look to targeted support "like heals like" while neglecting the very fundamental nourishment that governs our biology, health and well-being. It's no wonder that so many people successfully support organ and glandular-related health conditions (thyroid, adrenal and gut included) by just nourishing their bodies with the fundamentals... Liver & Nourishing Fats like Bone Marrow & Tallow.

The original survival food of our early Native American ancestors was pemmican... it was portable, durable and nutrient dense. It was made of dried meats, pulverized into powder and mixed with hot, rendered tallow. Oftentimes, this survival superfood included dried blackberries, cranberries and/or chokeberries as well. Pemmican was so calorically dense, it was said that just a pinch or two could sustain grown men for an entire day's journey.8

    Ancestral Wisdom Backed By Science
Each and every cell in the human body is made up of a lipid bilayer, known as the cell membrane, that should be stable and fluid if they contain the right substrates. That said, the lion's share of this bilayer should be made of "stable" saturated fatty acids for the cell to function properly; same holds true for our mitochondria. Unfortunately, other fat-like substances, such as trans fats, can get incorporated into cell membranes and wreak havoc, disrupting normal cell signaling. Thus, in the most basic sense, at the level of our cells and mitochondria, an incalculable number of saturated fat molecules are essential for life.

You'd be hard-pressed to find a better, more elegant example in nature of "like supports like" as it relates to human physiology. Fats, the right kind of fats (fats that contain around 50% saturated fatty acids, fats like tallow), nourish cell biology at the most fundamental level... at the cellular level.

Nutrient-dense fats, organs and glandulars were a staple of our early ancestors' diets as the ultimate superfood, for good reason. It turns out, this nourishing tradition is backed by science... "Radioisotope labeling studies in animals have shown conclusively that, when eaten, organs and glands selectively travel to the corresponding organs and glands in high concentrations. This research, done at the University of Scotland in Edinburgh, lends credence to the ancient practice of eating animal organs to help ensure health in one’s corresponding organs..." - Dr. Ron Schmid, ND.9 Our early ancestors knew this, which is why their traditional diets included the frequent and nourishing consumption of like-supports-like nutrients.

FDA Statement: These statements have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration. This product is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease.

Suggested Use (2 Capsules w/ Each Meal)

Our Grass Fed Beef Tallow is a whole food dietary supplement that provides 100% pure bovine tallow (from the prized suet). This supplement should be taken with food. The suggested use is 2 capsules with each meal or as directed by a healthcare professional — for added support, the dose can be doubled or tripled. If consuming other fat-soluble, vitamin-rich supplements such as Liver, Organs and such, now would be a good time to take them too. In other words, if you take our Liver or Beef Organs, I suggest consuming the Tallow at the same time... it's just like pemmican, without the fuss.

    Potential Issues (Detox Reaction)

Most customers tolerate our supplements without incident; however, approximately 5 to 10% of customers (usually with an autoimmune condition) may experience a detoxification reaction. Detoxification reactions go by many different names including healing reactions, healing crises, cleansing reactions (or) Herxheimer reactions with hallmark symptoms of nausea, headache, lethargy, dizziness and other flu like symptoms. In this instance, detoxification reactions are generally an indication that detoxification pathways in the body are back online... cells suddenly have an opportunity to release an even greater than normal quantity of stored toxins, metabolic wastes, pathogens and unwanted material.

A detoxification reaction is more likely to occur when starting with more than the full suggested serving size of 1 capsule with each meal. If you know that you are sensitive to supplements and/or you have an autoimmune condition, you may wish to start slow when adding this product to your current regimen. Tolerability can be greatly improved by starting with just 1 capsule a day and increasing by just 1 capsule every week.

For customers that are highly sensitive to supplements and/or have an autoimmune and/or methylation SNPs, I suggest that you "play it safe" by introducing just one new capsule per week. In other words, just 1 capsule a day during the 1st week... 2 capsules a day during the 2nd week, and if continuing up on the dose, 3 capsules a day during the 3rd week.

    Suggested Supplements

If you're going to pick just one ancestral supplement to start with, make it our GRASS FED BEEF LIVER... unless you need targeted support with another specific organ system (see below). If you are going to pick two supplements, our GRASS FED BEEF LIVER and our GRASS FED BEEF ORGANS provide complementary and synergistic nourishment. If you can add a third supplement, GRASS FED BONE MARROW fills fat-soluble nutrition gaps, provides stem cells, bovine cartilage, glycosaminoglycans and the fat-soluble activators that nutrition giant Dr. Weston Price extensively wrote about in Nutrition and Physical Degeneration.
    • Grass Fed Beef Liver
    • Grass Fed Beef Organs (liver, heart, kidney, pancreas, spleen)
    • Grass Fed Bone Marrow / Grass Fed Beef Tallow... these supplements provide the fat matrix for absorption and assimilation of the fat-soluble activators.

On the other hand, if you're looking for targeted organ support, you may be interested in our GRASS FED BEEF HEART to support heart health (or) our GRASS FED THYROID to support a struggling thyroid (or) our GRASS FED THYMUS to support thymus function and immune health... you get the picture. We have a like-supports-like nutrition product line that can be found on our "Products" page. If you can't find what you're looking for (or) you're not sure what you're looking for, send us an email and we'll do everything we can to help.

    Consider the Source

New Zealand & Australia seem like ithey were made for raising healthy animals. Their location and climate produce pristine conditions for cattle and sheep, and the farmers have uncanny expertise handed down for generations. New Zealand is unique among meat-producing regions in the world because its climate is moderate so the grass in the pastures grows fresh and grows green year-round which means the cows and sheep can eat the food that’s healthiest for them every day of the year.

Our like-supports-like nutrition product line is always from Grass Fed, inspected animals born and raised without the use of pesticides, hormones or antibiotics. Health of livestock used for manufacturing in New Zealand & Australia is closely monitored by a world-leading biosecurity system that is second to none, and is a global exemplar. Strict government licensing, auditing and certification procedures mean that our genuine New Zealand-sourced products can be used with complete confidence in their origin, safety and efficacy. Low heat rendering tallow preserves the heat-sensitive vitamins, minerals and co-factors of components leaving the nutrients in the same balance as found in nature.

Our product line is 100% additive-free. Absolutely no stearates, lubricants, binders, fillers or flow agents... except with our Bone Marrow (see Other Ingredients).

    High-Quality Organs, Glands & Fat

Okay, you're convinced! You're going to start incorporating like-supports-like nourishment in your routine because, well... you're educated now... you understand, just as our early ancestors did, that they provide superlative health benefits that are missing in our modern diets. The next step is sourcing it. It's important that you source the highest quality because not all organs, glands and fat are created equal. Consider the source.

More About Cholesterol… If You Want It

The greatest concentration of cholesterol occurs in the brain and nervous system (think myelin sheath), and then in the muscles. Cholesterol is a precursor to structural integrity, bile salts (to digest fats) and to vitamin D. It's also the parent substance that all sex hormones are made (estrogen, testosterone, and hormones produced in the adrenal cortex). These hormones regulate blood sugar, blood pressure, mineral uptake and hair health. They're also essential to healing, control of inflammation and stress.

High cholesterol level is essential for myelin membrane growth. Cholesterol in the mammalian brain is a risk factor for certain neurodegenerative diseases, raising the question of its normal function. In the mature brain, the highest cholesterol content is found in myelin (source).

When we're under a lot of stress (physical, mental and /or emotional), the body calls up its reserves of cholesterol to make corticoid hormones so that we can deal appropriately with the stress... Receptors for serotonin, the body's feel-good chemical, require cholesterol to work properly, which explains why low cholesterol is associated with depression, brain fog and other mood disorders. In progress...

    More About Hair Health

"Hair is the physical manifestation of our thoughts and an extension of ourselves."

How's your fat intake? Many people that have victoriously addressed thyroid health continue to struggle with hair loss, and many don't fully appreciate the nourishing value of animal-derived cholesterol, saturated fats, the fat-soluble system (A, D, K) and "Living" Collagen. As we get many of these customers to reintroduce things like tallow or suet, duck fat, bone marrow, wild fish eggs, cream, and yes, more egg yolks, hair health almost always improves. Of course, this is in the context of a clean like-supports-like nutrition diet (absent of antinutrients like phytic acid, lectins, gluten, etc., etc.)... stuff that you're hopefully already doing. Assuming the thyroid picture is favorable (especially free T3 and reverse T3), our functional healthcare practitioner accounts commonly look to the following collection of favorites when it comes to nourishing one's head of hair:

Ancestral Supplement Summary for Hair Health

    • Grass Fed Beef Tallow
    • Grass Fed Liver (or) Beef Organs
    • Grass Fed Bone Marrow
    • Grass Fed "Living" Collagen
    • Optional: Grass Fed Thymus - get this for immune support if dealing with chronic and/or recurrent infections
    • Optional: Grass Fed Thyroid - get this if a struggling thyroid is the root cause
    • Organic, Pasture-Raised Egg Yolks... to the tune of 2-3 raw yolks per day
    • Magnesium... transdermal magnesium oil  (by Ancient Minerals) applied to feet before bed and oral magnesium (by Trace Minerals; Mega Mag)
    • Vitamin D3 - get this from sensible sunshine, wild fish eggs or a supplement
    • Vitamin K2 - get this from fermented veggies like kimchi, sauerkraut or natto (MK-7) and get this from marrow, organ meats and wild fish eggs (MK-4)
    • UVEX Glasses (see our "About Us" page to know why)
    • Practice Fasting - this is the most powerful metabolic intervention to restore general, systemic health that leads to downstream, targeted improvement. See our "About Us" page to see how I do it.
    • Digestive Support
    • Stress Management
    • Stop the Caffeine (see P.P.P.S)

Wife also makes her patients turn off their wifi routers at night, leave their cell phones out of the bedroom and remove electrical devices within a 12-foot radius of the bed (one's pillow should also not be near a power outlet). If you can get away from bathing in non-native EMFs, health and healing has a better chance. Many times, all you need to do is use an EMF meter to see where the fields have biological implications and then re-position the offensive device... sometimes you may need to re-position your bed, chair or sitting area.

    • Vitamins A, D, and K2 cooperate synergistically not only with each other, but also with essential minerals like magnesium and zinc, with dietary fat, and with key metabolic factors like thyroid hormone
    • Vitamins A, D, and K2 interact synergistically to support energy metabolism, immune health, provide for adequate growth, support strong bones and teeth, and protect soft tissues from calcification
    • Magnesium is required for the production of all proteins, including those that interact with vitamins A and D

If you've tried absolutely EVERYTHING, and you're still not a vegan, and you're still having issues restoring hair health, cut out the antinutrients... the phytates, the gluten, the lectins, the trypsin inhibitors, etc., etc. for six months and stay the course with everything above. If you're already following my eating plan (from our "About Us" page), then you are likely good-to-go. If you're not, now might be a good time to try it out. We've had many a' customers ask about a list of antinutrients... we're working it! In the meanwhile, go to ol' trusty Google and search for a list of antinutrients like phytic acid, lectins and gluten. These are the rascals that rob you of deep nourishment, and they can prevent nutrient absorption... nutrient absorption and assimilation are critical to health, healing and a robust head of hair.

P.S. Washing, shampooing, coloring (to dye/die), etc., etc., etc. is not very primal. In fact, there are many benefits to not washing your hair. More on that in a subsequent article.

The Ultimate Ancestral Guide To Hair Health is underway. This guide also incorporates the use of digestive support (Pancreatic enzymes, ox bile, apple cider vinegar, Sweedish bitters, ginger, etc) and stress management as part of the holistic approach to support, to strengthen and to nourish hair health.

P.P.S. If a struggling thyroid is the root cause, then consider targeted support with our Thyroid product.

P.P.P.S If you're consuming caffeine (a potent DHT compound), this is not helping. Reduce your caffeine intake by 1/2 each week until you're down to nothing. This has been the magic bullet for many, including my own wife!
